Hello All

What a great week the whole school had last week – the films of the dances are still being put together and we hope to do a whole montage of clips – though my film editing skills leave a lot to be desired, as you will see from the link below, when I edited the whole school singing This is Me – that was Friday’s activity and you can see it by following the link below. It was a magical, emotional performance much enjoyed by our invited guests from the Local Board, Friends of Tadpole Farm Committee and representatives from the one of the performing arts groups we work closely with.

Spirituality and Well-being through the Arts Week

We have had an amazing week exploring the Christian belief in the creation story; sharing thoughts, reflections and Prayers in the prayer space; taking care of our well-being and exploring what helps with that;  creating something more than we could do on our own through art, dance and singing; discussing philosophy and how the world resources are shared... and what to do when they are not. This coming week sees the arrival of the mosaic artist and we will also be working on putting together a montage of the outcomes of the week.  As a taster here is a link to the whole school singing This is Me, a walk through performance that was emotive and full of feeling - https://youtu.be/7JySQ6aqXjE

Thank You for Coming Along to Coffee Morning

Thank you to all those who came along for the first Coffee Morning
they run from 8.45am - 10.00am on Tuesday  - next dates -  12/2, 26/2, 5/3, 12/3 and 19/3.

These sessions are designed specifically for parents with children in Nursery and Reception class and aim to support you and your child through their learning journey.

Each session will start at 8.55am with a short presentation and then ample time to ask questions, chat and of course have coffee (or tea) and cake.

This is an opportunity for you to: meet and chat with other parents; find out new things; ask those burning questions; celebrate success and feel involved and up to date.

These sessions are designed to be fun and formal and will give you the opportunity to speak to a wide range of teachers and professionals.

Preferably, we would like you to attend all six sessions as we feel this would give you the best experience.

Thank You from Young Carers

Last Thursday (31st Jan) was Young Carers Awareness Day and we had a cake sale with yummy treats donated by the grown-ups in our school. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that brought some pennies in for this day as we raised £150, which is going to Swindon Carers Centre to support them with the work that they do every day.

World Book Day
With our focus on encouraging reading, we have set the following themes for each Key Stage for World Book Day, which is on the 7th March. We have tried to come up with themes which will hopefully appeal to the age range, but also have easy options for the children to create outfits rather than having to buy them.
EYFS: Fairy Tales – any character from any fairy tale
KS1: Percy the Park Keeper (dress as Percy or any of his woodland animals).
LKS2: Mr Men & Little Miss characters.
UKS2: Any character from a Roald Dahl book
Staff.... any crayon from The Day the Crayons Quit!
Enjoy finding out about the characters and creating your costumes – we look forward to a colourful day!

Special Requests from YR
Does anybody have a trampette gathering dust? It would be great if one could be donated for early years to help build our gross motor muscles!
Also, if anyone has any action figures, small world play or action men they would like to donate, reception would be very grateful!

Football Match Report
After a short winter break, the boys found themselves back in action against a strong Abbeymeads side and, after a quick change of venue due to a flooded field, the boys unfortunately found themselves 4-nil down at half time. A better second half was to come though, after some fantastic defending from Daniel, Nathan and Gabriel and some spectacular saves from Muhammad the score could have been far greater. Despite the boys losing 7-nil, they came away learning so much and will only continue to improve in future matches.
The headteacher from Abbeymeads spoke to us after the game and praised the boys on how wonderful they were during the match and the fact that they didn't moan once despite the one-sided score line. He also praised the parents for their enthusiasm during the game, so thank you again for your continued support. Also, a BIG thanks to Miss Brandenburg for coming along to cheer the boys on.
Mrs Philpot and Miss Wood
Note from Mrs Leo - I’m sure you’d all like to know that we also received an email from the Headteacher at Abbeymeads Primary, praising our children, the parents and staff for their enthusiasm and positive attitude during and after the match - in his words “Brilliant - a great advert for the ethos of our school!’ We’re very proud of everyone involved!

FOTF Superhero Scarecrow Design competition
Ahead of our Scarecrow Trail in May and for a bit of Half Term fun FOTF are launching a competition for the children to design the best Superhero Scarecrow for us to use on all of our promotional material for the event. There are x3 £10 Amazon vouchers for the best 3 designs (KS1/ KS2 and Overall) and Mrs Leo will decide and announce the winners in worship on Friday 1st March. On Sunday we will email out the template for you to print at home. Alternatively, children can draw their own Superhero Scarecrow on A4 or collect a template sheet from the office.
We are asking for all completed entries to be returned to the office/ teachers by Tuesday 26th Feb ready for us to look at our next meeting on Thursday 28th Feb 7pm-which you are all invited to. Please make sure all entries have your child’s NAME and CLASS on and keep in mind it will need to be scanned in so having lots of things stuck on them may not be best. If you want to share your child’s creation don’t forget to join our Facebook page ‘Friends of Tadpole Farm Academy’. We hope the children will have some fun!
