Hello All
Here we are at the end of term 3 and halfway through this academic year. Thank you for the many messages of thanks and the positive feedback you have given to the staff this term. Our vision for the school is that we serve this community and not only lead the academic learning of the pupils but support all our families in living well together and enabling the children to become valued members of the community – your feedback helps us to know we are on track and is always welcome, as are any suggestions for improvements or new ideas. February Holiday Ready, Steady Read/Listen Sponsored Event
As already mentioned in the blog a few weeks ago, to celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and in school, we have organised, in conjunction with Usborne Books, a 'Ready Steady Read' event! We are really excited about this, as it means we are not only inspiring children to read at home, but we also have the opportunity to enhance the books we have available in school – something we are always keen to do!
Each child will have the chance to be sponsored for their reading during half term (or, for nursery and reception children, to listen to stories!) in order to raise money. ALL the money we raise will be spent on brand new books for school. Usborne will also add to our budget depending on how much we raise.
We can't wait to hear about all the books you read :) Not sure what books to read..? - the local library can make recommendations or check out www.lovereading4kids.co.uk for age related recommendations.
The sponsor forms have been sent to your email address twice now – once at end of January and once this week. They are word docs so you could fill in online and return if you don’t want to print them out.
There will be a prize given to the child who reads/listens to the most books over half term for each age group - one prize for a child in YN/YR; one for a child in Y1/2; One for Y3/4 and one for Y5/6.
Thank you to Laura Harrison for supporting us in this event and we look forward to hearing about all the exciting reading that has taken place in the holidays. You could even take photos of you reading your books and we can display those – again emailing in is fine and we will print them – email to jane.leo@tadpolefarmcepa.co.uk - what is the most unusual place you do your reading?
Spirituality and Well-being through the Arts Week
This week the ’Mosaic Man’ came to school and was helped by the Y3 – 6 children to put together a mosaic sign to welcome people to our school. He was supported in organising the groups that worked with him by a great team of parent and staff helpers, led by Miss Brandenberg - thank you for all the time you gave as a team to support a project like this. The mosaic should be put up over the holiday period so you will all be able to see it but here is a taster of the journey to it’s completion... 
World Book Day and Book Fayre Request
As announced in last week’s blog, World Book Day celebrations will be on Thursday 7th March and we have chosen a themed approach to dressing up this year. We are not expecting that parents will buy anything specifically for this event as we appreciate that you all have other demands on your income. To give you some DIY ideas I have added some weblinks below that may help....
EYFS – YN and YR: Fairy Tales – any character from any fairy tale - https://www.bhg.com/halloween/kids-costumes/easy-to-make-kids-costumes/
(I found lots of hits just googling DIY children's fairy tale costumes – so many that I didn’t think you would need them added here)
KS1 – Y1 and Y2: Percy the Park Keeper (dress as Percy or any of his woodland animals). Lots of animal masks blanks available on the internet for you to copy or print or Percy costume can be easily made from clothes you may have available plus a cap
LKS2 – Y3 and Y4: Mr Men & Little Miss characters.
Can be adapted for any of characters in the Little Miss and Mr Men series
UKS2 – Y5 and Y6: Any character from a Roald Dahl book
The week after World Book Day we have the Book Fayre in school; if any parents could help run the cash desk we still have some slots available (thanks to FOTF for organising filling most of them!). The Fayre will be in the office foyer at lunch and after school - see dates above.
Football Match Report
It's been a busy week for the Tadpole football team this week, which saw us play two boys fixtures and a girls tournament at Kembrey park.
First up was the boy's plate fixture against Wroughton - unfortunately we found ourselves at the end of another heavy defeat which saw us knocked out of the competition. Special mention goes to Harley, Kewin and Owain who offered to go in goal, especially Harley who made some cracking saves to prevent the score from being more.
A couple of the boys dusted themselves off again the next evening and found themselves in a very competitive fixture against Haydonleigh; the boys found themselves three nil down before halftime however without Muhammad it could be been a totally different scoreline. At halftime my words were... can we continue to work hard and see if we can pinch a goal? ...and we ended up getting two! Luke and Gabriel got on the scoresheet with the help of Darcy and Joseph, who played thier part in setting up the goals. The boys ended up losing 4-2 however they came away with a positive attitude in what was a cracking game.
On Friday we returned, but this time it was the girls who were taking part in thier first ever competitive fixture and they didn't disappoint. The girls drew 3 and lost 3 and overall scored 7 goals with Angel grabbing herself 4 and Kirsten, who managed to score a cracking goal finding the top corner. Not bad from a team that have never played together before and this might not be the last we hear from the girls. Also credit to the parents who came to the tournament because if there was an award for the most excited and supportive parents you guys would have won as you were, by far, the most supportive and loudest at the tournament. Thank you again to all the parents as without your support these fixtures can't go ahead.

Parent Consultation Meetings
Many thanks to all those parents who used the new bookings system and made their own appointments for parents consultations. For anyone who missed the email and blog information, we have now booked and emailed to you a time to see your child's teacher. Please check your junk mail if you haven't received it. If you need to check your time, please refer back to your confirmation email sent to you at the time of booking. Due to GDPR rules, we aren't able to email this info out. ALL children now have an appointment booked. Remember, the dates are either Tuesday 5th or Thursday 7th March.
Message for Y3/4 Parents
On the 25th February please could all year 3/4 children come into school in their PE kits ready for our Hook day (Hook day is the name we give to the day we launch a new topic for the term).

Message for Y5/6 Parents
Next term we are going to be doing a topic based around Dinosaurs (please don't tell the children just yet!).
We have planned lots of writing based around Jurassic Park, as it is a PG film, such as complaint letters, balanced arguments and diary entries.
However, because of the age limit, we are writing to ask that if you feel your child should not view this film, please let us know before Monday 25th February so we can make other arrangements for your child if needed. Please email jane.leo@tadpolefarmcepa.co.uk
