This is a method to delete a memo-like Proxmox VE (hereinafter referred to as PVE) virtual machine (hereinafter referred to as VM).

First, the situation before operation is shown using the PVE management GUI (screenshot).

Delete the VM named "100 (Q4OS)" displayed in the left navigation pane (resource tree). This VM resides in a storage area called "vm-data (pxve)" displayed in the center pane (content panel). Let's confirm that when the VM "100 (Q4OS)" is deleted, it is deleted from "vm-data (pxve)".

"iso-data" and "vm-data" displayed in the resource pane above are the storage areas created on the HDD added after installing PVE. Normally, you would probably create a VM in "local-lvm".

operation

↑ Select the VM you want to delete, select [More ∨], and then select Remove.

↑ Enter the ID "100" of the VM to be deleted in the input field "Please enter the ID to confirm (100)". Next, check Purge from job configurations and Destroy unreferenced disks owned by guest, and click [Remove].

  • Purge from job configurations: The ID of the deleted VM is removed from backup and replication jobs. Select this if you want to delete the settings related to the VM when deleting the VM.
  • Destroy unreferenced disks owned by guest: Disks with the same ID as the VM being deleted are deleted. Select this if you want to delete the disks associated with the VM when deleting the VM.

↑ You can see that the VM "100 (Q4OS)" has disappeared from the resource tree in the left pane, and the storage "vm-data (pxve)" area has been released.

that's all
